Today, the Ministry of Defense issued a communication officially announcing its 5 year budget reducing plan, which will implicate a substantial reduction of Palmeria’s military manpower. The key points of the plan described by the MoD and previously by the Executve Branch are as follows: · Reduction of highly spare and stored weapon assets to reduce cost of storage. · Elimination/Sale of highly spare and stored ground vehicles to reduce cost of storage of unneeded equipment. · Reduction of active duty personnel of all branches of the armed forces. · Reduction of reserve personnel of all branches of the armed forces. Last week, The Presidential Palace was very clear when announcing its intention to carry this plan, that the substantial reduction of Palmeria’s military manpower will not reduce the nation’s defensive or offensive capabilities. This was enforced by the MoD’s statement that the assets dedicated to border protection duties won’t be contemplated by this plan. The Palace of Escorrecho has made it clear that the current military projects upheld by the Cucuphas’ administration have to be compensated with fair and necessary cuts in the military structure. With this plan, it is expected that the Palmerian military manpower be reduced to a total of 1,500,000 by 2034.
